Default Ilford Polish Resettlement Camp - Newton Abbot - Spring 2009 - pic heavy

Hi, I know these pictures are 18 months old, but after using the site search (for a while with loads of different terms) I can only find 2 mentions of it on urbexforums:

dangerousdave's report - but all his pictures seem to be removed from the flickr account

    and,

escortmad79's post - in "demolished/converted", saying not to bother visiting (absolutely right as it's actually been landscaped now with a few thousand trees planted)

Anyway, I'll bite the bullet and post some pic's from my visit last year in case anyone is interested in how it looked Spring 2009?

    History from www.polishresettlementcampsintheuk.co.uk
    Ilford Park Resettlement Camp
Originally a WWII American Military hospital. After the war in 1948, the abandoned camp, with its long rows of concrete huts with corrugated asbestos roofs and covered walkways, became home to hundreds of Polish Displaced Persons. Stover Park camp as it was known, was one of 45 camps/hostels run by the National Assistance Board catering for the needs of displaced Polish people who survived the war, avoiding the traumas of deportations into the depths of Siberia and exile.

Mod's, if this is too pic heavy/crap/not of interest to the site please just bin it if you like, just thinking it might be of interest to some

    ...thanks for looking anyway.

...and since it's all gone now, I sort of value them a bit more, maybe not the quality of the shots, but definately the record of the moment.

There are still some parts of it remaining, took a quick drive through the site when I was last down a few months ago.

All of the old accommodation blocks alongside the road to Trago have gone as have the buildings next to the golf club but a number of the ones in the middle of the site are still there at present.

All things of interest have been lost including the cars that were on site. I just hope these have been saved rather than scrapped.

The new buildings are still standing/occupied

Cheers for the update, museum closed I guess, will never forget the intimate kind of feel to that place though.
It was the amount of personal items lying around that got me, and "real" peoples names on things...just glad I saw what I did

Never got to see this place abandoned but it was kind of local for me as I'm from Exeter originaly.

Suppose you could of always fitted it in as an explore then paid a quick trip to Trago

    Plenty to see here fella.
Give me wine, I drain the dregs and toss the empty bottle at the world.

Handsome, witty, devastatingly charming and unstoppably immoral
