Greenway Estate is near Paignton, Devon and has been an important property for 500 years standing at a crossing point of the river Dart. Full history at National Trust HERE
My camera phone is what it is, I'm sorry, and when I can of course I'll update it, for now though I hope you find the pic's interesting at least, as I couldn't find anything on this tunnel in the searches. As the railway approached Greenway House in the late 1800's, a link was needed through the estate to reach the ferry. The owner at the time had fought a proposal for a railway to run across his land down to Greenway Quay from where passengers could travel on to Dartmouth by boat. A compromise was agreed though, with the building of the 495 yard Greenway tunnel that runs under Greenway, and today transports tourists along the steam railway from Paignton to Kingswear.
