Arrow Old Lane Mill. Halifax. July 2010.

Pissing down with rain, bored shitless and all I want to do is get out and play! So plans were scuppered. But late afternoon saw the weather break and I sent Judders a text saying sod it I'm off.

Time constraints though meant it had to be something near, and Old Mill was decided upon.

It's been done many times so I wont bore you all with the details. Here's the history link instead.

Although the mill is stripped, it still provides for some nice situations and is steeped in history.

    Externals.

Wasteland that used to house the weaving sheds.

The Boiler House and lovely arched stonework.

Top of the shop and the rare metal truss work.

I think this used to house a clock once upon a time. Quote me if I'm wrong peeps.

    The floors and stairway.

I love the symmetric lines of the pillars. And the arched roof reminds me of the one in Westwood Mill.

    Careful where you walk.

The engine house which runs the full width of the mill. You can just see the semi circular recess which once housed the fly wheel.

And finally! The modern day concrete stairs.

A nice relaxed explore. Well it would have been apart from the multitude of young kids running about. One day someone is going to get hurt in here.

    Thanks for looking.

The real stunner is this. In 1902 there just happened to be a silent film made which was a tramride up what is now the A629.

At 1m 30 seconds into the film you are in for a treat- its the same mill in edwardian times! but watch the entire 2 minutes for an idea of a mill town of old
