Arrow Battle of Britain Memorial - Capel-le-Ferne Dover 03/07/10

Was in the area over the weekend with Kingrat, so stopped by to the memorial to "The Few"

    Website here:
    http://www.battleofbritainmemorial.o...apel-le-ferne/

The lone statue of an airman sits atop a 3 blade propeller, looks out across the straits of Dover for his returning colleagues

The wall with some 3,000 names of "The Few" who fought for this country in our hour of need

Wild flowers and Red poppys now grow peacefully over the White Cliffs of Dover

It's a great place. I really like it up there, It's built on the site of two of the three gun emplacements and magazines of Capel Coastal Gun Battery. Luckily the plotting room and no1 gun emplacement survived: The Dover/Folkestone Districe Boundry runs straight through the middle of the site; the memorial is on the Dover side.

Here's the replica Spitfire which stands on the site.

    Here's one.

No.16 is wrong BTW. It's the base of a radio station, you can see it's in a hole... not much good for an O.P.
The O.P. went over the cliff but is out of shot anyway. I think this is a late '50s photo.
