Question ROC Fans! Question about Comms?

The comms that i have seem to be non standard roc comms. When i got them the WB1401 L/S and Speech Receiver were detatched and on closer inspection - the grey paint is all flaking off and it looks quite bad.

The board which they should be on is full of loads of other stuff i really have no idea what it is - although the white bt box is cool.

    I think i should have a WB1401 Filter Unit?

I think the small board on the left is for the teletalk - but again - ive never seen that many connection boxes for it before.

The main question is - what do you think i should do?:

Swap them for an intact comms board already made up?
    Somehow paint the WB1401's?
Get a new board and put some stuff on what looks good?

    Anyhelp/suggestions?

I don't know what the white one is or the grey plastic ones are, but I think something like this is what you should be aiming for.

I agree with TripleSix on this one r.e. the painting...

Layout-wise, TripleSix's pic shows what I've experienced to be the most common, but the layout below (somewhat different) actually works - the only one I've seen that does...

Yes you need a filter unit. Standard pattern is to have a small board with one brown and one grey box. Then a larger board with filter, speaker, and reciever unit on. The light grey box (and presumably the other extra ones too) were later additions to sites which were used for nuclear testing ban monitoring etc. Get a couple of new boards and repaint anything that needs to be.

I agree with Goldie That white box is something to do with Test ban monitoring equipment, possibly quite rare?
I suggest you ring the number up on the box and report a fault on the line! and see what happens

That white box is a much more modern unit, it almost looks like the ISDN boxes BT used to do.

^^ It is a BT private circuit ISDN box, an early version of the now familiar ISDN2E boxes.

I has nowt to do with the ROC as it was.

Interesting it has atomic weapons as the circuit reference though. Maybe something they were testing towards the end of the ROC.. comms over ISDN voice link? Having two ilnes they could talk to HQ and another post maybe?
