Arrow Stanton Air Raid Shelter - Nottingham 4/6/10 REPORT

    Hi all,

A really easy and nice late summer evening explore this one. Chatting to a friend on good ol' facebook i found out about this air raid shelter thats still there in Stanton, Ilkeston, Nottingham. So with brief location details we set out for a look. Was quite easy to find as its in a field and right next to the road!

I have no history of this shelter and neither did the person i was chatting to but there are lots of factories in the area, some of which are very old buildings...must go there to see if anything derelict!

So here are the pics we got. Sorry for the blurry ones but we only took the camera and two small led torches. Plan is to revisit (as a mate wants to take a peek) with better lighting and torches etc.

Each corridor looked like a dead end but there are small corridors off these at the end which can only be seen when right up close

Looking up one of the small air shafts:

There is another smaller shelter right next to this one but it seems to be full of water...maybe a foot in depth so i need wellies to go in there...maybe there's some stuff still in there with it being inaccessible to most due to the water?

    Hope you like.

Just revisited today and we were held captive in there by a huge herd of cows! Here's some more pics of the day!

This was after we went in...they surrounded our exit!:

They were at another exit too!

They looked like they meant business:

And they even manned the airshafts!!:

We had a wander along the shelter and hid from the 'killer' cows!

Its all clear!!! When we exited, the cows had almost completely vanished?!?!

And that's the lot! It was raining very heavy so we didn't venture near the other water filled shelter as we figured it'd be even deeper water so we'll prob be back there at some point...when the cows are gone that is

    Markus
