not trying to doubt what your saying but picture 5 is the capped shaft and the cages have gone.
Didn't want anyone to waste there time thinking they could get underground from the colliery site not that a visit to Tower would be a waste if time.
Speaking to be bloke on site on saturday he discribed the trips underground exactly as you did even down to signing a methane wavier.
might be worth while finding out if Unity or Pergum do undergorund tours.
Great report Sinnerman, enjoyed reading that and quality shots too
Nice to see the place so well looked after.
Lovely winding house. And a 7 foot seam! Lucky buggers! You'd be able to stand up when working that and everything... Some of the Little Limestone seams up here are 1ft-2ft... 5ft at best I think (the Busty Seam's 5ft, and what a wonderful name )
Flickr kindly host my images for me. My flickr page is here
cheers for the comments guys i wrote this as a final summing up of my visits to tower as i'm pretty much done with it now. should have a similar one up for penallta as i'm finnally done with that colliery as well
Nice one Sinnerman – looks like you've covered the site pretty comprehensively. Haven't started to go through my photos yet…
Great report, South Wales is a place I've never explored and looks like it might be worth a visit........
Penalta is so nice, we just got to do the bit underground now finally found a way in at last.
