the lift shaft was used to take people from the promenade at uncle toms cabin down to the old boating lake and paddleing pool,it was a really busy area with ice cream vans everywhere, however it has now been turned into a go cart track. some of the old pictures from the 1940/50s show how popular this place was. there was also a cafe and toliets under the promenade but these have been filled in and arnt accesable anymore
