GNSR Knockando ( Now Tamdhu ) - March 2010 - Report

Explored here today with Zombiesazza a brief bit of history > Opened in 1899 under its first name Dalbeallie Station it is located on the north side of the River Spey and was on the GNSR Boat of Garten - Craigellachie line. It saw it's last passenger train in 1965. It was bought later by Tamdhu distillery and used as their visitor centre for a while they changed its name to Tamdhu - its third name now due to their rival distillery Knockando being down the road a bit. Station has been kept in very good condition with lot of original fixings in place. Signal box is still there too with all the levers in unfortunatly couldn't get in. Asked the distillery if we could have a look inside and they kindly came over and opened station for us which was very much appreciated. Anyway here is my pics

Nicely done, some nice history there too. Didn't know it was originally named Dalbeallie

Shame we couldn't get in the signal box as the levers were there but we can stalk plenty of others and hopefully find another one that's just as nice
