Spey Viaduct

I was at Spey Viaduct today, it's beautiful. The locals who go there every day to walk there dogs spoke to the photographer I was with and myself and told us what they knew. Spey Viaduct is just outside a small town called Garmouth.
It was built in 1886, it was the longest single track viaduct back in 1886, one guy remembers when it was in use as he took the train to Buckie and remembers Portessie Train Station. I told him the water tower, turn table pit and platform was still there and that made him smile. Also he played the harmonica (I kid you not, this guy was a little strange but in a nice way) and sang. The locals at Garmouth are very, very strange but they are happy to talk to you and tell you about the bridge. As soon as they see a camera they talk to you, it was nice. They even told us that one side of the river Spey is higher than the other and a lot of flooding happens there, It was closed in 1968. The last time the bridge got painted was in the frost and snow and it fucked it up

A massive former railway viaduct which crosses the River Spey a quarter-mile (0.5 km) east of Garmouth in Moray. Built in 1886, the size and strength of its lattice-girder construction was made necessary by the width and power of the meandering river here, only a half-mile (1 km) from its mouth. The railway closed in May 1968, but the viaduct can still be crossed on foot. The Speyside Way passes the eastern end of the viaduct.
