Fewster House was a Salvation Army "Dry" unit based in Greenock. The unit provided accommodation and support for those with alcohol problems. The unit was closed in the third quarter of 2008 with the reason given the building requires massive repairs and is unsustainable. Local councillors fought to retain the Salvation Army services in their constituency were fruitful in that new premises were found.
A strange building – in that it is designed in a triangular shape

and a shot down inside the building to show the three sided triangular build
Natural decay or delightful architecture this place does not have, but for raw exhilaration the local chavs have gave it a “Clockwork Orange” feel, a violent almost aggressive feel to the place as you wander through what was once home to many an unfortunate soul dependent on alcohol here to be cured by the word of god.
an immense amount of things are strewn around this place – too many to photograph, and in many places that real marie celeste feel comes to the fore
corridor after corridor – room after room misc materials are strewn around forgotten on the day the front door was locked, each room with a different personal story to tell, from clothes to photographs to office tat much remains.
the ground floor contained the reception and communal areas, kitchen, dining room and also a small doctors area with minature hospital type accommodation

a tranquil and superb view over Greenock and the Firth of Clyde opens up to you
To the east towards Glasgow, the converted factories and the now listed structure of one of the final remaining Titan Cranes is seen
to the west with the beginning of the highlands in the foreground across the River Clyde the town of Greenock
with its amazing tower that always feels to me so out of place
so descending back into the calamity and forgotten droog land below
it was time to beat a retreat and work my way down to exit before some of the more recent tenants to this building returned
