Arrow Inchyre Steading, Lindores, Fife - 28/07/09

After having a nice little poke around Tentsmuir Beach, headed back homewards and did that thing where you are driving along, catch a teasing glimpse of something, and the next thing you know, you are up a track and in the middle of a pile of nettles taller than you are worrying about a farmer coming along to chase you. It wasn't a hugely exciting explore but a nice little surprise.

Don't know any history on this place other than the fact it's probably an old farmhouse and that it's yet another lovely big property falling apart from years of neglect (//sadface).

I think there might be a little bit of distortion on this pano! I was stood parallel to the edges of the 2 wings that come off it.

Inside the tower was this rather unusual arch

    the rest

There was one area that looked like it still had some explores in it but the only accessible route involved a bit of a climb and my blood sugar was starting to get all squiffy. I made it home just in time to have a full blown migraine, and that kids, is why you should always have a little emergency snackage on you.

Was there any way up the little tower?

    Yeah, a very long ladder!

There's basically nothing left inside atall.

It was weird actually, there was the arch inside and then a very narrow gap the width of the face of the tower. I guess it probably had a wooden stairs/ladder going up it. The whole thing is not very big, maybe 2or 3m square so I'm not really sure what, if anything, it would have been useful for.

This steading was up for sale at the tail end of last year … doesn't look like they've found a buyer. IIRC, there was a circular hollow in one of the walls for a mill gyne/ mill wheel … you maybe spotted it, or failing that Foz will maybe remember?

Yes, it's Inchrye Steading, was perhaps part of an abbey or something now long gone nearby. I haven't got any pics in my 'bucket, but the tower is full of pigeons and their doo poo. No access to the top. Some little bits of detailed decor to see though.

I probably have a pic of wolfism and our old dog though....

Still on the market at o.o. £275,000, we could chip in 100k each and take a wing each and still have change for a few beers eh?

It's amazing looking at Foz's set from Jan last year how quickly the courtyard has filled up with foliage. The actual front and sides were too overgrown for me to even bother to get in about.
