Arrow Milton Keynes museum of Industrial & Rural Life May 09

    Pic heavy

A little local unknown museum, run by volunteers located in Wolverton, Milton Keynes.

A nice little museum showing lots of local history of the industrial and rural past of Milton Keynes area

Definatly recommended to anyone in this area to spend a couple of hours, well worth a look around

More information of the museum can be found here at their website: http://www.mkmuseum.org.uk/

Anyway some pics I took that day:

A tug boat built locally that returned to it's home town and now sits in the carpark, history of the boat can be found here: http://www.mkmuseum.org.uk/news/newspat.htm

Steam engine also located in car park

Good history of telephones in here as well, they are all working and your even allowed to play with them

Victorian street scene recreated, complete with shops and bar

Fully restored and working 9 HP engine

    Priestman Hub drag line crane

Yard full of old farm machinery and implements from Wolverton railway works

Fully restored body of local tram that used to run between Wolverton and Stony Stratford

    Yellow GPO Bedford truck

Most odd find, BT phone truck

    Before restoration

I think the phone belonged to Gulliver

I wonder if that Sherpa phonevan is on the Roadafone network!

The steam engine is a stationary boiler used for heating or soil sterilisation
