Default Leeds-Liverpool Canal Storm Drain mini-Tunnel

    Here's a different one!

Located 2 miles from Shipley along the canal towpath & Nextdoor to Thackley Railway Tunnel, lies this little hidden tunnel under the Canal. The Beck from Thackley runs through, joined by a storm water drain course from a nearby sewer system. There's currently no access into the sewer though (bar lifting a manhole cover), but the bars are sawn off sometimes allowing access, perhaps one to keep an eye on...

    A few piccies:

Walking the pipe, Tunnel's ahead & the canal goes over the top

Looking back from the tunnel at the culvert. Thackley Beck runs down the right & the storm drain runs from the left.

Above us, the waves (of the canal!)

Outfall at the other end. This can be a foot or more deep in 'Grand Rapids' in a thunderstorm
