Arrow Last of the South Notts Pits

Here are some pics from the last remaining headstocks in the Leen Valley. This site is 90% flattened already but a stand was made to keep the last headstock (unforunately it was lost). So the brave (pfft) Deputy, Mirage and Illusion climbed up and took what could probably be the last pictures.
    and nervously from the top

it was 48 steps to a dodgy platform from the first rooftop

anyone want any history, I used to work there as a ...... Deputy

god that yard looks empty now was there anything left of the winding houses or the fan drift, see the bath house is still just about there.

When i visited just over two years ago there was a tramp living in the electrical workshop but it was still packed full of fitters spairs and colliery litrature dating back to the NCB days bet its all gone in a skip now though.

you used to be a deputy eh, nice to have an old colier on board.

The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself.

this shows the concrete plug on the site hwhere the shaft was, the meshed part at the rear was the gates to enter the cages, top and bottom decks.
