    Arrow Radio/Radar Station, Swinhope, 04/08 & 02/09

Mystery surrounds this former RAF site not far from RAF Binbrook. The locals claim it was a secret radio or radar station but no one seems to know for sure. It doesn't appear on any military maps but the Howard Society got all excited about it when they saw Magoo˛'s images last year and went dashing down there for a look

Outside it is surrounded by a double layered brick wall which, like the rest of the site, is in a poor state.

There are quite a few holes like this, either filled with rubbish or flooded.

Inside is stripped and looks like it's been used by local kids for drinking, dumping rubbish and possibly other things considering the frilly knickers left behind there's some nice peely paint though.

Looks very interesting, have you any more shots of the holes you found as they look very similar to the entrances to the underground radar rooms we found at Bawdsey.

Sorry I don't have any more pics but latest info is that it was an underground radar thingy down there, something to do with a relay station for planes going to Norfolk?

There's really not a lot to see but if anyone's in the area and wants to check it out I can send you an FE link.

Sorry I don't know what a rotor site is This military stuff isn't really my thing, it just happens to be on my doorstep and has nice peely paint.

Does Binbrook have a rotor site? It could be something to do with that.

Here's an FE link anyway Swinhope

Thanks for the info and the link flat-4, we were told the two underground rooms at Bawdsey were installed incase the topside was destroyed by enemy planes. The rooms were very big and impressive have many photos if anyone is interested.

there are a lot more than two underground rooms at Bawdsey would be interested in seeing what you've got pictures of, is it the Rotor site or the older ww2 radar site
