Heres a couple of local pill boxes from our area. First one on the beach is at East Runton near Cromer and has fallen down the cliff as they have arroded back. The second batch of photos is of a box we found hidden up in a field at RAF Oulton Norfolk, this one has some natty decoration, I think it was positioned at one of the entrances to the old airbase.

Here is a trip I managed to make today.
'A stretch along the river Ouse is known as Pill Box Alley due to the large number erected around this point of the river, about 36 in total, many of which are still standing.'
Just abit of history for the site!
' Close to the mouth of the Cuckmere River are concrete constructions which were built during the Second World War. A system of lights mimicked Newhaven harbour at night which, it was hoped, would attract enemy aircraft away from the real harbour and so bomb the haven instead. Other constructions built there were tank traps and block houses 'pill-boxes' used as gun emplacementsand look-out posts often manned by the Home Guard (Dad's Army). '

Silent Sentinal's of Widemouth Bay, Cornwall.
People mingle amongst these Tank Traps that are scattered amongst the dunes at Widemouth Bay, but how many stop and wonder what they are or were for
They stand silent! Some still on duty ready to stop an invading army that will never come! And as time marches on they will fade into the sandy dune's to be covered for ever

This was all I could find with google - Rye Harbour was within the general area that would have been visited by 7 Division of the German 16th Army had Operation Sealion been launched.
The pillboxes at Rye are unique; mostly shell-proof (1m thick concrete walls and roof).
