Visiting a mental hospital, particularly an abandoned one, was something I'd wanted to do for a long time.
Initially, we got caught getting in, not by security, but by builders that were in the area. Luckily, some time later we found an easier way in, which access to the building straight in front of us.
I found Severalls to be extremely intimidating. It was huge, and we got lost several times, managing to do two complete circles while trying to get out.
However, there was a certain atmosphere that accompanied Severalls, one that I cannot explain.
I didn't manage to take too many pictures as my battery died (I forgot to charge it, oops!) and we didn't find the ever so interesting morgue because it was getting late. The water tower was impossible to get into as it had been heavily raining over the past week and it was flooded - we didn't want to get ourselves or our cameras wet.
On our way out, we saw someone who looked like security climb through a fence, so we had to run and hide until we could escape. Other than that, no signs of security at all!
I used a Canon EOS 550d for these pictures.
Would definitely love to visit it again, but at night, and feel the true history that Severalls was once part of. Enjoy!
I don't wanna post too many more, 'cause then it'll be pic-spam, but the rest are on my
Flickr if anyone is interested
