there was not much to see but is a nice little moouch for a sunday afternoon a little history then on with the photos
In March 1965, Beeston had new Fire Station built. this fire station was opened in Beeston, on Station Road replacing the one on stoney street, at the corner of Middle Street, partly on the site of the old National School. The old site at the top of Stoney Street was abandoned at that time and subsequently became part of the larger site developed by Sainsbury. The new station served the Beeston area for nearly 45 years but, after coming under the control of the Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service in 1998, it was closed in February 2009 to make way for a new tram system and station. Beeston is now served from the Highfields Fire Station on Hassocks Lane which combines the service previously provided at the stations in Beeston and in Dunkirk. At the moment (September 2012) the Beeston building stands empty and is expected to be demolished as part of the redevelopment associated with the tram.
