Default Saxthorpe ROC Post (Norfolk Group) February 2012

Was opened in 1957 and closed in 1968.

Stumbled across this on accident, urbexdoll noticed it in the field as we was driving to Aylsham. Unfortunately some little sods had messed about with the hatch and it doesnt close anymore, making it clearly visible as you drive past.

As you can see morons over the years have destroyed everything that was in there.

How could this be a 68 closure and a master post?

    That's quite unusual.

The dome looks a different shade of green to the vents and fsm tube too.

This could have been an early post for radio or maybe a failed ancient resto project?

Can't see any earthing in the post for the mast but those two holes under the rear vent look suspet and the copper could've been knicked.

Maybe this was like a trial post so they tried the master post here before making it a nationwide feature on the select posts? Certainly interesting though.

Edit: After some discussion between myself and Tankman we have concluded that this was a Master post and was kitted with the earlier Master Radio the ATE Countryman. For more see it here: http://www.ringbell.co.uk/ukwmo/Page231.htm

You can tell because normally these posts have 2 brackets on the far end of the left wall (this post has a similar layout to such ones) and the 2 connection points just below the back vent which you can also see. A good example of this is Brougthon In Furness post.

Copper earthing was added after the introduction of the Burndept radio, -1981. When aerial wiring, along with generator connections were added into the radio connection dome.
