Default North Stainley ROC Post - (Yorkshire Group) - January 2012

    1991 Closure

    Subbrit report HERE

Just off a sharp bend in the road, along a field boundary. The hatch has no tbar and is held down by rocks. The counter mechanism is still present and the post is in pretty good condition but is slightly flooded near the sump. A pole in the hedge has some BT equipment on and obviosly served the post until closure.

Another one off the list. Are the cables for the radio equipment? I think another ROC tour may be on the card this summer!

Forgot about this post! Might find out who owns it!

You need to restore a cluster, and then get them all back on-line!

Well, Chop Gate cluster probably wouldnt be possible, Great Ayton which was the master post is flooded and minging, although nothing a bit of tlc couldnt fix i suppose. Back in the day it was always getting broken into so they fitted chubb mortice locks to the underside of the hatch, however, rain water would just drip through the holes lol (luckilly i have a set of keys to this post if i did anything), other one in Chop Gate cluster is Redcar and i believe that the only access now is thorugh the golf course - there did used to be an allyway between some houses for special roc use locked with a chubb battleship at each end - again i have a set of keys for this and the post but access would be a major issue.

North Stainley was the Master Post of York Group 30 Cluster - the posts in this cluster were 30, North Stainley, 31 Kirkby Hill (already restored), 32 Darley (burnt out and hatch missing i think) and 33 Middlesmoor which is the most inaccessible bleakest post ever haha its on top of a mountain pretty much).

The problem is is that there arnt many clusters left in which all the posts are pretty much intact
