Sunk Island Battery October 2011.
Many thanks to goldfinger for his directions on this one. A beautiful Saturday morning started as we walked towards the site and as we entered the area the giant monolith concrete structures loomed out of the gloom.
The are was now covered in a dense carpet of leaves and was not as clean as goldfingers report and a lot was not visible. This is my first real report and enjoyed every minute of it and getting to grips with a new camera.
The first shot may make you smile and I couldn't believe it myself, an obligatory chair sat in the middle of nowhere.... wtf

To me this had all the hallmarks of a latrine. I'm probably wrong. The marks on the concrete could be from urinals fixed there.

This shaft was immediatley outside the "latrine block" which to me looks like a sewer.

After trying to work out access to the roof and gun area there were iron staircases on the outside. You can just make out an outline from where they had painted it. Fixings were in situ top and bottom
