Default Moss Rake Quarry, Derbyshire - Sept 2011

Quarrying for Limestone at this site goes back pre the 1950’s. In recent years the site seems to have been in a constant battle regarding planning permission to continue to extract material. A stop notice was served on the quarry in 2008 which was enforced after appeals in 2010. This seems to be around the time the site was abandoned, leaving several temporary buildings, trucks, plant & a general mess behind. The site has been visited by vandals & thieves with some recent arrests.

Was an interesting explore, came across the site whist looking for a local farm with some old abandoned vehicles. I liked the trucks & plant. There’s also two caravan trailers on site which look to have been left without any notice as the fridges and cupboards are still full of food, beds made & even work boots still waiting by the front door!

    Big boys toys!

Wellies & work boots still waiting by the front door!

    Anyone for a fry up?

    Thanks for looking
