Arrow Barwick in Elmet ROC Post - (Yorkshire Group) - October 2008

Well, having looked at this post many times I was suprised today to see the modern padlocks still there but fastened round the loops only.

The post is now open if you have a decent t-bar and a hammer to get back the hasps. Maybe someone is now going to retore the post? The hasps, loops and hatch all remain completely undamaged.

Downstairs the post is in good condition with loads remaining including bunks, jerry cans, rations and maps. The toilet section smells a bit mongy.

Good to see this local Leeds post explored at last.

The original ROC post was on top of the Norman Motte in Barwick In Elmet. The ROC post was relocated just before the bunker was built in 1965. I have the original drawings of the 'resite' by the Air Ministry dated 14.6.1960 as part of the deeds bundle when I bought this post a few years ago. Most photos are of the current location but occasionally, like on Subterranea Brittanica, a shot of the Norman Motte pos up. There is just over 1km between the two.
