Stenigot. part II. Behind the wire. Picture heavy

Using an old Praktica camera (pre-digital). Point, shoot and...RUN, was the order of the day. So I apologise for the out of focus snapshots.

I did post these some time ago, but as they say on the BBC, here is another chance to see....


The view from the Guardhouse upstairs. My thanks to the person who made a dummy guard sat at the desk up here. I want you to know that my jeans nearly changed colour.


Security problem, the notice on the wall asked?


I'll do the Standby Set later. Let's go into the station. Was the little spyhole in the outer door really necessary I wonder?


The porch to the transmitter hall.


The entrance corridor. Kitchen to the left (with kettle & cups and saucers still there), showers and toilets to the right. Coms room to left and the OIC's office to the right. etc
The paper rolls left all over the place are for the comms printers.


The tx/rx hall. It was a bit damp in there so when the kit was switched off the paint didn't last two minutes I guess.


A few of the transmitters/receivers in the hall.


The controls for the Northern link (Brisley).


There are some potentially serious RF levels here.


This kit would be for the Southern link (Maidstone aka Coldblow)

The 'Police Mutual' calender on the wall said November 1992. So I suspect that it would be about that time.
I also suspect that the TV viewers for miles around were pleased that they no longer had to put up with the loud buzzing noises from Stenigot!!
