Barnsdale and Brierley Tunnels, Hull and Barnsley Railway. Feb 11.
Live local to these and grew up playing around in the tunnels.
Both part of the disused Hull and Barnsley Line. Barnsdale (also known as South Kirkby tunnel - even though it's in Upton!) boasts a nice length of 1,226 yards and is now sealed at the East end. The Brierley Tunnel (also know as Hemsworth Tunnel) was 684 yards long - although it is now half its original length as half was filled with concrete as part of the support for the new Hemsworth bypass. The Brierley tunnel is only accessible by either climbing down the side of the West portal or wading through the now flooded cutting - not something I'd recommend!
