It was last September when I visited this place whilst on one of the Heritage open days with joybee and judderman. They have been stuck in an album doing jack shit ever since. That is until a recent period drama hit our screens entitled Brinkburn Street. It was a five-part drama following the lives, loves and lies of different generations of the Ogilvie family in 1931 and again in 2011. Bit more info here..... http://menmedia.co.uk/tamesideadvert...c_period_drama.
I couldn't see the point of putting this on during the day though. Having said that, I watched every episode with great gusto
The settlement itself is rather unique with It's late Georgian Architecture and 18th century character. Some history here.... http://www.tamesidehistoryforum.org.uk/fairfield.htm
Lets start with the BBC's drama. Brinkburn Street.
And my attempt in showing what it may have looked like back in the 30's
And straight out of the Hovis Ad
Today though things are a little bit more colorful.
A few from inside the church
The old washing mangle.
And a browse around the cobbled streets.
Ta for looking.
It's well worth a visit here if in or around the area
