Westfield House, Barnsley. May 2011.
Visited here today with RoyalBob, I'm sure his pics will be up shortly!
Struggled to find history, gathered a bit from conservation reports and planning applications.
Didn't do any upstairs stuff as, well, there weren't any stairs! Badly fire damaged in most parts, lots of relics left by homeless people/drug users/squatters etc. Fair bit of human waste knocking about too.
Little bit of history found:
Built in 1876 by William Munford for Mr J H Watson, the then Manager of The Wakefield and Barnsley Union Bank. Built of coursed sandstone with a low pitched, hipped roof and parapets. Welsh slate roof.
Converted from Student Hostel to a collection of bedsits and Wardens flat in 1985 - this explains the horrid single story addition at the back.
