Old school thread - back from the dead as I have some new pictures.
High on Windmill Hill, Much Wenlock, Shropshire, is this stone tower, the remains of Much Wenlock windmill. In 1859 battlements were added and a viewing platform put in so that viewers could watch the Olympian games in the adjoining field. Today it is shuttered, and awaiting restoration.
When it was listed in 1954, it states "C18. Four storey stone rubble tapering circular tower with damaged battlemented
parapet. Ruinous and with no interior features. A prominent landmark."
