Default HAPPISBURGH CHAIN RADAR. NORFOLK. 01/11.

While at the gun battery with DJ OSKA and shadow ops, we crossed over to the Chain Radar station. It was the first radar site in Norfolk, using Low Radar, operational on christmas day 1939. During 1942 the 184 feet tower was constructed with the ops block and generator shed. Happsiburgh also became a Ground Control Interception base. DJ OSKA is making a documentary on the site, so I will leave the details to him.

    Tower base.

    Ops block.

    Ops room window and shutters.

More window, playing around with my new camera.

    Inside the Ops block.

    Thanks for looking

    We do indeed, King Elvis.
Plenty of stuff been rediscovered out this way recently...
Chalk mines, underground gun battery tunnels, a gloomy workhouse chapel, last weekend was quite an explore-fest...

Part 1 of the documentary can be seen HERE:

and Part 2 can be viewed via a click-on caption at the end of part 1.

However, Part 1 focuses on the RADAR site, and Part 2 focuses on our exciting finds at the Gun Battery nearby...
