Default Ushaw Collage and Chapel - January 2011 - County Durham

This is my third poke around this place in as may years. It's not changed much since I first went in 2008 and then again in December 2010.

Closed in 1973, the highlights of the abandoned parts are the fabulous chapel (getting more vandalised each time I visit...morons ) the gates and the general gloomy atmosphere the place has. I saw a few bits and bobs I'd somehow missed on other visits, like the birdie mural so it was a pleasant wander round, despite voices coming from outside on a regular basis.

As usual, my pics don't show the wonder of the place...visit and see for yourself

The main building as you come through the woods.

I used the old access point and one of the first things you see is this bell with rope still on, I didn't ring it.

The main hall, I think this was used for dining etc

    Various corridors off this hall.

    Cold empty rooms.

    Rotten stairs abound.

    Gate and more gates.

Some corridors an asylum would be proud of.

    The chapel.

    Loved these birds.

    Thanks for looking
Under the radar, over the top
