This is a favourite site of mine at the moment- and certainly a BIG one!
I felt it was appropriate to do a report on this site, to coincide with the video as part of my Norfolk Uncovered video series on YouTube.

Teaser Here:

Now, on one of our pre-filming investations one saturday, we drove to the North end of the Tattersett Business Park area of the site, which was the accomodation and domestic site, and we were in James's unmarked, Blue, Ford Mondeo Estate.

Within minutes of hiding the car, just to be on the safe side, we were at the small fueling garage, on Flag Street, and the security Landrover (Left hooker, Spanish plate) came roaring up.

We were a bit spooked, and the bloke wound down the window...
I explained what we were upto and that we wern't doing anything dodgy.
He wasn't bothered.
All he wanted to know was what time we were finishing, so he could lock the gates.
We agreed on about an hour, and he left us to it.

We made our way down to the accommodation sites and had a look around them, same with the NCO Club, but that was all we had time for.

However, a week or 2 later, I re-visited with another pair of Urban Explorers, (who also came with me to Bessingham... Mimble, and whatever her bloke's urbex name is...)
and we scaled most of the accomodation site, including Truman Hall, and revisited the NCO club.

But then it was the biggie...
If only we could get to the control tower...

Within half an hour of worrying, and exciting talk, we made a run for it, jumping a convenient part of the airside fence.

On arrival to the control tower, there was no open doorways into the building.
We entered through an open window.

On the ground floor, we found some stuff kept on standby- fuses or relays relating to the Runway lighting controls...

then we worked our way upstairs, and had a look around the ...stripped... Penthouse.

It wasnt long before we had to scarper, with the call of
"VAN ON THE RUNWAY!!"
and we jumped several electric wire fences and made a swift getaway back the way we came, and that was it.

Anyhow, with many more future visits, I did some maps, and got the footage I needed to start creating the video!

Keep an eye out for the finished video!

GOOD NEWS- The RAF Sculthorpe episode has finally been uploaded!
Hope you all enjoy it- although for legal reasons, the episode does NOT cover the active side of the fence, as Defence Estates seemed to have lost interest and haven't granted me a licence to film on the airstrip.

Part 1 can be seen here:

Part 2 should be found in the related videos section.
