This is a short (~500m) concrete culvert in the Midlands, complete with loads of drain spiders and drain flies.

The outfall of (what I think is) Sub Five is visible from the infall.

Most of the culvert consists of two parallel 6' RCPs, and two 5' RCPs on a higher level as an overflow. All four pipes are fitted with sluice channels at the infall.

The upstream section is plain RCP

The two 6' RCPs are connected at a junction with a smaller pipe that has been bricked off.

Both 6' pipes join into a large concrete arch about mid-way.

RCP RLY?

If anyone lost a hose assembly, it's down here.

This is a clean culvert with no evidence of CSO spew - note the lack of fanny plasters on the grab chain. There were no foul smells, the pipes weren't slippery and there were even small fish in the water. Litter from surface runoff appeared to be the only pollution down there.

More RCP downstream...

The outfall is faced with purple brick.

The overflows reappear to the right of the main pipes.

It's a short drain without many features, but a good mooch if you're in the area.
