Been on the list for a while, but the whole site is locked down incredibly tight, with most windows and doors boarded up to the first level.

Originally opened in 1898, the site is a mixture of Edwardian and Victorian buildings which finally closed end 2008, the new hospital for the town being officially opened in January 2009.

The 8.5-acre Newton Abbot Hospital site is expected to fetch millions of pounds and be redeveloped into housing and commercial premises.
Commercial agents Alder King has been appointed by NHS Devon to sell the former community hospital in East Street, which has a range of two and three-storey buildings, some Grade II-listed properties and an area of woodland.
Interested parties are being invited to submit tenders for the 110-year-old hospital, which became surplus to requirements following the opening of the new £25 million Newton Abbot Hospital at Jetty Marsh earlier this year.
...after an hour or so and nearly thinking it was going to be a fail, we finally found a legal chink in the newly constructed armour of the old main building.
The hospital clearly has much more to offer though, as we saw through other windows, but sticking religiously to the right side of trespass law this was my best of what we could access...

These signs are on most doors and windows of every building...and absolutely true, be advised, doggy footprints are inside and there was a note for the K9 team at reception!

...like I said, there are plenty more buildings in the complex which we couldn't get to, with probably far more interesting stuff inside, but this really was all we could access on todays explore.

Cheers for looking :smile

Cheers folks, I admit it was a bit of a disappointment that nearly everything had been stripped, but just managing to find a way in was the real buzz for us. Fair play to the workers, they had done a brilliant job locking it all down, but on a site with so many windows & doors they fortunately missed a bit :thumb

Oh, and just as we were begining to lose hope, this happened...

...didn't find the crock of gold though!

They certainly do train dogs there! That's the reason I've never attempted it whenever I'm back in Torbay
On my own definitely not, but we had made an honest gentlemans agreement that if dogs arrived it really would be every man for himself with no complaints afterwards...and I'm pretty confident I'm not the slowest runner of our group, lol ;)
