East Wing Manor Hospital, Walsall - August 2010

[Dystopia]

Sadly all of the good bits have been more or less demolished and this explore was nowhere near as good as previous ones. Like everything else in my hometown, it looks like it is full of promise but then contains a crash down to disappointment. This will probably end up in the recycle bin but I decided to post it anyways. Manor Hospital has an interesting history. Many years ago, it was used as a work house and it is said local lords upon having their way with young women would put them in there when they were pregnant out of wedlock. For those that know Walsall, believe it or not, the Pleck area not too far from the hospital was once very posh.

I wanted to visit this place because in 1983 I was born there...it was the biggest mistake I ever made. I went here alone largely because I knew I wouldn't be able to get into all of it and also because it was Sunday, I was bored and I walked around on the off chance of being able to access what little was left. It wasn't as epic as other hospitals but there were some interesting relics left behind from previous inhabitants that had used the buildings. I wasn't that scared here, as there were no signs of junkies and this part was more or less ignored. I was more concerned about evading security.

The amount of stuff to be chucked away...why they didn't take some of those books/stationery products in good nick to a charity shop is beyond me.
