Scott's caves at Snargate Street. Dover. Was once the home of Scott's Dyers, and later Hoverspeed stores and the AA. The well at the rear of the caves supplied water to the Grand Shaft Barracks above.
It was used as an air-raid shelter during the Second World War and on December 4th 1940 Emily Foster was killed by an enemy bomb while entering the shelter, her body was not found for several days.
No plan but it's just a simple 'H' shape.

I'm starting to think the whole of Dover is actually hollow there is so much underground!

very true mate.its all good fun ,am liking dover very much 2 reports if all goes well :)
and i have been lucky with a few spots when i first came on to forums and being in the right area at the right time with some good friends to nudge me into the right direction :)

havnt got that one have doe and hammonds must get meself some more maps

Well you've got it now :) . At least a small version. I bought it from the N.A. If you go on their website, they've got loads of stuff. It's cheaper to buy online than to get copies there, although there's a limit to the size of documents they can email. I expect you know all that though!
The maps you have are the Fire Brigade ones which aren't as detailed and don't come with a full survey report.

thanks..i had a look on the national archives last night but it was late and it looked like id have to wade thru a fgair amount of gumpf to get what i was after,and at that time of night the brain had stopped working..cheers for the heads up tho:)hope to have a report up soon of that lagoon and beafoys,just a few details left to arrange :)

I remember literally strolling into these and not knowing what the Fuck we'd found - Great set of tunnels, Ill have to dig out my photo's sometime. Well done Herbivore

got an A3 print of plans in post how good they are i dont know or how much different with details they are to other plans circulating im not sure .hurry up posty :)

nice report mate, i found this one a little hard to light when i visited. You have done well. You still using the a200?
I think i may have a set of plans tucked away somewhere, i will have a look :)

Cheers Obscurity, I've posted a plan on page 2 of this thread. Yes I'm still using the A200, although the lens died a few months ago. Gave me an excuse to buy the 10-24 that's on it now, so not all bad!
