I have been meening to go here for a while and break my tunnel cherry so me n jackcleeds went for a reckie last weekend the idea was to find it and go back another time but to be honest its miles further away from where I thought it was so even though we didnt have my light cannon we thought we,d give it a bash, all went well till we were chased by an inbreed local farmer as we were making our way back to the car lol.

Know its been done before but below is the history

The Benniworth Tunnel (also known as the High Street Tunnel) in the county of Lincolnshire was built in 1875 and eventually closed in 1958. It served the Louth and Lincoln Line and is located some 7.5 miles from Louth. When High Street (aka South Willingham) Tunnel was planned, its length was 255 yards and there were no refuges. The latter was an oversight on the part of a designer which was later rectified with three refuges being cut. The length more than doubled to 557 yards passengers services were withdrawn in 1951 but goods continued to be carried until 1st December 1958.

Nice one there, I too have walked this beauty and its a Cracker. Its on the Louth to Lincoln Branch closed in 1956. I have also had the pleasure of walking the Mighty Withcall Tunnel as well, just down the same line. Will shove the pics up soon.
