I joined Woodburner and Ojay in Sheffield recently. Our initial plan was to visit Megatron, however the culvert is currently having some work done to it and it turned out they were working on it at 8AM on a Sunday morning :( so with that plan failed we looked elsewhere. Woodburner had it on good authority that there was some tunnels running under a museum and eventually winding up under the River Don.

Embracing the 'I don't give a damn' approach, we walked in, straight into a staff only area and identified the door, which to our surprise opened with no resistance! Feeling rude not to take advantage, down we went and spent an hour or so down there.

I'm not entirely sure what the tunnels were used for, they run under the River Don and below this former steelworks, and today seem to be little more then a empty basement. I believe they operated as service tunnels at some stage. Nothing immensely exciting, but once again the Steel city delivers :)
