Right first off visited with a great bunch of guys..way too many too name but here goes..myself..unclebulgaria,fortknox,frosty,obscur ity, night walker, phil and sorry mate forgot your name :(
I had a little help with some of the light painting and a bit of camera assistance from frosty, cheers mate!
Right this place was in operation until 1914 when the locals got very worried due to lack of thought of how it was mined that their properties would fall into the mines! After this it was used as a folly for local village events..during ww2 the home guard used the longer section as a rifle range and then after the war it was opened up as a tourist attraction briefly..and at some point rumour has it it was used for religious ceremonies, entrance is on private property and must have permission for any sort of visit!

Looks good mate, what kind of religious ceremonies did they have down there? Did they involve newt's eyes by any chance?

That im no sure on there is the same old quoted history on various legit (ish) urbex sites you know the ones where they have beards and look like yer grandad..but i did read on oine about ceremonies maybe more pagan than eye of newt..damn shame tho..no sacrificing virgins ;(

I'd guess they were Catholic ones carried-out during the days of the repiblic.. Eastry held the seat of the Kings of kent between the 6th and 9th centuries and there was a huge battle nearby at Woodnesborough where the church is said to be built on the burrial mound of the thousands of dead. The winning army camped out at Coldred a few miles away at the site of the iron age ring fort which still remains. Also Thomas Becket hid in Eastry on his way to France. He should have stayed there!
I'm waffling now. Sorry.

Yeah, apparently the supply of suitable Virgins South of the Thames dried up around 1989 roughly around the time White Lightning and 20/20 was introduced to Odd Bins. Looks like a mint explore though, love the paintings.

20/20 them where the days and thunderbirds red wine..hell yeah!!and vigins down my way nooooo chance
