Eastry childrens hospital 21/06/2010

Right quick write up as its late and im knackered.This isnt where we started off intending to do,but due to a no go situation we went here ,old kids hospital been derelict a long time but it was better than nothing..AND i trod on a floor board with a rusty nail i may well lose my foot..nah i hope not heres a few pics of what we did.:)
And thx to someone for pointing out it wasnt actually a childrens hospital but an asylum..i cant seem to edit the title my apologies!

This is Eastry Union Workhouse, which was converted into a mental asylum in 1948. I think it closed in the mid '80s. most of it has been demolished and the only reason this part remains is because it's a listed building. It wasn't ever a childrens hospital although the asylum was run by the NHS until that time when most UK asylums were shut.


Here's a photo I took in the mid '90s of the part which was (unbelieveably) knocked down.
