This is a fascinating place hidden away in the Yorkshire hills.
Not very well known - and not signposted or advertised.

It was created by William Danby of Swinton hall in 1820.
It is meant to be a realistic replica of a Druid temple, however the main object of the exercise was to provide employment for locals who were paid a shilling a day for their toils.

Aside from the main temple and cave there are many standing stones stacks etc around the immediate vicinity.

Definately a pleasant wander for a sunny afternoon.
