A tale of two bridges. Well not realy a tale just some photos and info but you get the idea :) Both just around the corner from me and both very nice sites to visit.

The first is the newsham bridge a late C18 gothic bridge, circa 1772, probably designed by Lancelot Brown.

One of the two headless stone statues attached to the bridge from the newsham abbey that was suppressed in 1536.

And the second is the Horkstow Bridge wich is a fine example of an early suspension bridge and one of a handful in Britain to have remained as originally designed. Situated 1 mile upstream from Ferriby Sluice it was completed in 1836 as part of the River Ancholme Drainage Scheme by Sir John Rennie. Also kown as the original humber bridge.
