Mortal Decay and myself had spent a few hours and the night before investigating other turdy goodness in Manchester, and afterwards decided to pop down the curiously named 'SSSI' in one of the cities numerous dodgy inner city areas.
I can't remember what SSSI stands for or whom originally found it, its a 19th/early 20th century brick sewer overflow and sewage levels seem to fluctuate (I quote my fellow explorer - "if I told you the sewer levels had risen by 10cm in the last hour, would you move faster?"). Either way it was lovely.

Partway in the brick pipe which carries the overflowed sewage into a nearby brook is a opening into a large concrete chamber...
