Cherry Knowle Asylum, Sunderland - July 08

[Tumbles]

As part of my rather crazy, unplanned, 8 asylums/hospitals in 7 days I found myself with a warm sunny evening to kill. This visit was just after they had installed the new fence.

Cherry Knowle is probably one of those 'visited once, that's enough' sites. It's smashed to within an inch of its life. Despite this there are still the odd gems to be found such as the murials in the chapel. I left as darkness fell and the noises became odder. Not the most chilled solo explore I've done.

Its a shame, a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted stuff... whats left to protect i wonder?
Still, some nice pics... i know what you mean about the noises, last time i was there is was in the dark and some of the noises that place was making were downright spooooky!

My uncle lived here from the age of 30 till his death in the 70's. He had (excuse the spelling as i dont have a clue where to start, so im gonna spell it how it sounds) Skitszofreenia!
