From the Aberdeen meet, visited with Alir147, Bryag, Celo, Melvin, RJG_Scotland and RichardB. We also discovered some 'ghosthunters' wandering around inside bringing the total number of people in there up to about 15 which was somewhat worrying after being told this location was not suitable for large groups hahaha.
The wooden built Sanatorium was constructed around the design of a Bavarian Sanatorium at Nordrach-on-Baden.It started life in 1901 caring for patients suffering from TB where it was known as Nordrach-on-dee hospital. After TB died down it was then used as a luxury hotel where it adopted the name of Glen O'Dee. The hotel was then taken over during the war and served as a billet for troops. Shortly after the war it was used as a contagious diseases hospital again to care for those struck down with typhoid in the 1960's. It was finally used as convalescent hospital before closing its doors for the last time in 1995 with patients being transferred to the smaller purpose built hospital right next to the old building. It still stands, quietly waiting for a decision on its fate.
As Alir pointed out the building was constructed using wood so that it could be quickly and easily burned down after a large TB outbreak.
