View Full Version : Edingham Munitions Factory WW2 - Dalbeattie

Built in 1939 mostly by hand by over 3000 men mostly Irish at a cost of £3.5million, Edingham Munitions factory produced Cordite and nitroglycerine for the war effort. After the war the site was used as a store for such things as floating mines. The land was eventually sold back to the local farmers in 1960.
Some of the site has been granted national monument status – apart from sheep and cow pens now some of the buildings are used for army and police training.


A splendid little explore on a frosty morning with shades of Ardeer about it in a smaller scale.

This looks good. First pic is really nice.
Interesting buildings. Loads of space to play, and beautiful views!

Mate I like that very much indeed, reminds me a bit of Broughton Moor.

Looking at this pic might be some camo paint going on rather than soot.

Good to see some shots from here - the press houses and drying stove buildings seem to be identical to Ardeer's. Looks like you got the weather for it as well.
