Visited this evening with Mr Tumbles who was just passing through

Loads of history on the tunnels here.

http://www.victoriatunnel.info/Index.html

But brief overview here

The Victoria Tunnel is an early Victorian Grade II listed wagon way built to transport coal to the River Tyne Spital Tongues to the north west of Newcastle upon Tyne.

In later years it also served as an air-raid shelter during World War II.

I've not been down here in a good year or more and its nice to see that its much as it was and the only thing thats changed is the amout of cave snot which has increased.

On with the pictures

Nice pics there guys.

Did you do the whole north section end to end? Were there any problems with the air?

Cheers

I'm sure I noticed something not quite right with the air on that meet years ago when about 15 went down- didn't seem to be able to completely fill my lungs with air towards the end. Might have imagined it though.

should of worn a gassmask as it was insisted upon by some people :jester
