Visited during the 'Sketchy Scotland' roadtrip with Kona.

In truth, St Peter’s was my main reason for wanting to come to Scotland. Yes, there are many more interesting and exciting sites, but I wanted to see the Brutalist college for myself, and wonder at the miracle of modern architecture now mouldering away, outmoded and outdated, in the Scottish countryside. We approached Cardross as we were losing the light, and our original intention was to scope it out and return the next day, but as we rounded the corner (Kona: “Seriously?” Me “Seriously! It’s better inside....”) it was obvious that we were going to catch the light just right. The setting sun lit the interior up with beams of fire-bright light, and for half an hour I was just lost in the waves of concrete picked out in the setting sun. Very little of the floors remain, and the Escher-esque staircases which thread through the building are heart-stopping laces of concrete with no handrails, and in most cases no steps, like slides for suicidal children.
