It had been a bad day so far, incessant rain, irritable kids, very irritable dad and a telethon of ceebeebies. An unpleasant Sunday afternoon supermarket trip had just finished, and we were just driving aimlessly around Leeds, wasting time and diesel. However, hope was round the next corner as we drove down Torre Road. A "child friendly" explore, hopefully minus rotten floors, smack heads and asbestos.
This is now a tile shop, but back in 1916 the Regent Cinema opened it's doors for the first time, with an astonishing 1,076 seats. It closed in 1971, and became a Bingo, and later a tile shop. Would there be anything to see?

Remains of the Bingo were everywhere. Here is the old numbers at the front.

This passage way, now storage is underneath the circle, which sadly I didn't get to. Note the sloping ceiling.

View from the distance. Remains of the word "Regent" are still visable painted on the roof of the building.

Photos are rubbish due to being repeatedly kicked in the ribs by my son*. Definitely a place worthy of a proper visit, where none of the party are crying/whinging/attacking you.

*My son is 18 months old, not 14.
