Despite having lived in Scone for pretty much most of my life, I honestly can't say I know much about the history of the aerodrome and it's use during wartime.
I'd previously seen the name "Battle Headquarters" crop up in the vicinity on Google Earth but the placement was pretty vague, once I check on the DoB Overlay, it made me realise the actual location. I'm almost embarrassed to say this one is literally 2 miles from my front door so hardly even feels like a bag, but you take the smooth with the rough I guess.
Anyway, pretty barren inside and full of fairly non-descript rubble, a few rags, some old cans, the one thing that go me particularly excited was the resonant drone built up when the very nearby planes were taking off and landing.
Not a great deal of chat to go with them other than to say I was having a bad camera day and the combination of appalling ISO performance and general D50 limitations pretty much convinced myself that I need to upgrade (I was heading towards the D90 anyway).

Rest of the set is here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/erstlaub/sets/72157621699174189/).
I just knocked this up from a sketch I made while there, it's not to scale but should give you an idea of the layout.

Be happy to hear if anyone with more expertise has any history or info on this one.
Thanks.
